Dr. Jim Parker

Dr. Charles Parker established the Spring Valley Veterinary Clinic in 1956.

Dr. Jim Parker joined Dr Charlie in 1976 and has worked at the clinic since. Jim is married to Kay and they have 3 sons. Jim enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine  When Jim is not working, he enjoys exercising, golfing, and being a grandpa.

Dr. Katie Gehling

Dr. Katie Gehling has been with the clinic since May 2016. She is originally from Hastings, MN and attended the University of Wisconsin-River Falls prior to veterinary school. She graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. Katie lives in Leroy, Mn with her husband and two kids. She enjoys spending most of her free time with her family gardening, fishing, and camping. Her veterinary emphasis is companion animal and has developed a unique appreciation and love for the challenges of surgery.

Support Staff

They are all animal lovers who enjoy helping people as well as their pets. They will gladly answer any questions directed their way.

Cailea Mensink
Head Veterinary Technician

Cailea grew up in Rochester MN. She has been a vet tech since 2006 accepting her 1st position at the Spring Valley Vet Clinic. She then moved away and worked as a technician in Florida and Wisconsin before returning to the area. She enjoys spending time with her husband and son on their hobby farm in Wykoff. Cailea enjoys seeing and helping with the complex and rare cases that come through our clinic. She is a big animal lover and has a large collection of pets including goats, dogs, cats and chickens. We truly appreciate her expertise and compassion to animal health.

Wendy Jax
Veterinary Technician Assistant and Administrative Assistant

Wendy is from Brownsdale MN where she was an independent contractor for 23 years in Mower County. She started part-time at the Spring Valley Vet Clinic in July 2017 and became full-time in November 2017. She currently lives in Austin MN and has been the owner of Jax Farm Nigerian Dwarfs for over 10 years. At the clinic, she enjoys working with the wide variety of patients our clinic sees. She enjoys working in the garden and spending time with her kids and grandchildren. We are glad to have her join our practice with her bubbly attitude and empathy towards our patients.

Makayla Morgan
Veterinary Technician

Makayla is from Racine Minnesota and graduated RCTC with a Veterinary Technician degree in 2018. She joined the Spring Valley Veterinary Clinic after graduation in June 2018. The highlights of her work are assisting in any surgeries and having fun while working hard. Away from the clinic she loves spending time with her dogs and hanging out with friends. We have appreciated her hard-working attitude while having a great sense of humor!
